Ok, so this is a subject which many have discussed at length, but it boils down to: whatever the hell you like! It’s your body at the end of the day. However, I agree that this is not incredibly helpful to a new initiate. So, please see below for some tips.
Rope is like yoga.
It can get hot and sweaty, and you need to be able to move freely. You also need to be able to not get tangled up in your own clothing.
Rope Bottoms:
Leggings, leotards, LAYERS, yoga shorts, t-shirts with a bit of stretch and fairly close fitting… open-toe tights…. strap tops, sports bras.
Please just be aware that loose fabric can buckle under rope, which is not ideal. Also, that if you were planning on wearing those board shorts that you love but the crotch is almost hitting ‘pengiun’, this is likely to hinder both your movement, and limit your top’s options.
Also bear in mind that it is more difficult to tie on shiny fabric than matte.
Rope Tops:
Joggers, running tops, leggings, sports wear, pajamas.
Please bear in mind that when you get into it “rigger sweats” is a thing. I guarantee that when they come out of the rope they will be chilly and you will be melting. So it’s worthwhile bringing a change of top, particularly in warm weather.
Avoid jeans that don’t stretch, and anything that will affect your mojo i.e. clothes that show sweat marks or sit awkwardly when you’re moving around. If either of those will bother and distract you, that’s less fun you’re going to have.
